Showing posts with the label ear tubes

Done. Almost.

I'm done with my ear fixing. But now I have to wait a bit to be sure I'm ok. I'm playing games on my Nabi with Daddy. But I want to get this big thing off my arm and go home.

Fix my ears time

Here I go. Time for a ride on the bed with wheels....

Ear tubes on my heart day

It’s been 6 years today since Dr. F fixed up my little tiny heart.  I don’t remember it, and Mommy thinks that’s a good thing.  Here’s what Mommy wrote about it last year … there’s pictures there. (Don’t cry Grandma C. I’m ok now, ‘member??) Today, I will remember what I have to do, though. I have to go get my ears fixed so they will quit keeping water and stuff in there when they should let it out.  So I’m getting new tubes in there.  We have to be there WAY early, that’s why I’m up before the sun. I don’t like to go to the hospital, but I’ll try to be good.  Kinlee got to go to Grandma C’s house for a sleepover tonight, and I don’t think that’s fair. Mommy says I can take a turn one day soon. I’ll let you know how it goes today.  I’m used to going to sleep at the hospital while they fix things like my eyes and my ears and my heart and some stuff in my throat. I told Mommy that I just want to stay home. But she said not this time.  I hope they...

Still napping through it

It’s like magic… I can still tell you what’s happening when I am sleeping in the other room.  That’s part of that 47th chromosome, I say. The ear doctor said I don’t need tubes, so he just cleaned out my ears and left them alone.  The eye doctor said I was really good and let him do all his fixing.  And now the teeth doctor is messing with me.  I’m so glad I get to sleep while they work. Here’s a couple more pictures from earlier…  I was happy when I got here! Me and Daddy did my sight words flashcards for a while since we were waiting. I showed some of the doctors and nurses that I can read the words. I’ll be done soon.  I never feel good when I wake up, though.  Boo. Edited to add:  I’m done!  All went well… Mommy and Daddy should come see me soon I hope.

Good ears!

A couple weeks ago, me and Mommy went to see my ear doctor.  We stopped on the way and left KiKi at Daddy’s work with him.  She had a good time and helped a lot, he said.  He gave her snacks for all her hard work. We went on to the doctor’s office, and waited for them to be ready.  First we went to see the ear test ladies.  Usually, they try to show me toys and want me to look at the dancing elephant in the light box when they play a sound.  I haven’t ever liked doing that.  I usually just look wherever I want.  I talked a lot to the lady and counted with her.  I would wait nicely until I heard the sound in my ear, then I would put the piece where it was supposed to go.  We did it over and over.  They said I listened and did what they wanted me to, so Mommy was glad. The trick??  This time Mommy took some things I like to look at, (FLASHCARDS!!) and she told the ladies that I like to count and do my letters and wo...

Still waiting...

We are still waiting. Been about 35 mins so far. Maybe she was a "difficult kid" as the anesthesiologist said could happen and cause them to need to intubate instead of just breathing gas... No--cancel all that! They just called. Off to recovery now!!! a pic from earlier.

Mommy report: The clock is ticking

Because Jen said I won’t have time to get an update up…I just HAD to do one in the quick time I have before they tell us she’s done. We just walked her back to the OR.  She’ll be back in no time.  She was dancing with her daddy on the walk there.  Of course I caught the moment between giggles. Thanks for all your well wishes…we know this is a little routine thing, but it’s always nice to have people pulling for our girl.

Mesmerized?

Watching some Wiggles with daddy. He is way more "mesmerized" than she is. He is far too excited... This message has been sent using the picture and Video service from Verizon Wireless! Here and ready for the next step. All we have done is weight height temp and a little listen to the chest and she has already melted to yellin three times. Guess shes old enough now to get anxious. Fun times! The possibly bad news is that she is globbing lots of yellow snot when she screams...anesthesiologists dont like congestion. We shall see. -RK

Mommy report: Bright and early

We get up with the chirping birds tomorrow and head to SLCH.  We are to report with Braska at 6:45am to the 6th floor, so that means leaving home by 6:15am.  Some of you are familiar with that area of the hospital.  We’ve not had the pleasure of procedures on that floor yet, so it’ll be new for us to be on that side of things and not just hanging out with friends while they wait for their littles. It should be a quick and fairly uneventful morning, we hope.  I’ll be updating on here via my phone if I don’t have time to deal with the computer.  Bear with me if things look a little odd in the process. Prayer team: Please pray that all goes well, no hitches, no complications, smooth sailing.  She’s a tough cookie… but we don’t want her to have to hurt more than absolutely necessary.  She has had more than a few rounds with anesthesia, but each one is a new risk and challenge.  We expect no issues, but we prefer to err on the side of extra prayer!...

Mommy report: Thursday’s surgery info

I just heard from the ENT’s office.  After all the back and forth and waiting and such, the final word is that Thursday’s procedure will JUST be tubes in the ears, not tonsils or adenoids being removed.  There are a few reasons, but the main one is that he feels that it’s not fully necessary right now, that it wouldn’t really benefit her as much as we had hoped, so we’ll wait on T&*A. Tomorrow we’ll find out the time for us to report to the hospital.  But for now, you’re up to date.
