31 for 21 : Flashback to braids

Mommy reporting: This pic is from 3/20/11… Braska was 4.  She wore braids a lot back then.  Now, not so much.  Not because I don’t want to do them, because she is just plain not able to leave them alone. She gets in a zone, touching them, moving them, feeling the texture.  Seriously interrupts everything she’s doing.  It’s hard to watch, quite honestly.  It’s like this often with her hair, especially the last 9 months or so, and it’s getting worse.  It’s a sensory thing, clearly, but I just can’t figure out what tactile need isn’t getting met in order to be obsessed with her hair, especially braids.  So we cut her hair much shorter, going with a regular ponytail, which has often been the preferred way since it’s out of her face and out of sight.  But she got to the point she wouldn’t leave it alone either.  So we cut her hair again, in the attempt to be able to have nothing in it (the ponytail holder got to be the obsessions for a wh...

198/366 Braidy curly hair

Today before we left for school, we took some pictures outside.  Our hair was in braids yesterday, so today we took them out and had fluffy braidy curly hair. Silly faces!!! We like to play games on the computer, and KiKi is good at starting them up and doing all the clicking and letter pushing.  We played for a while tonight while Mommy was cooking. Today was a big day because we found out that I’m going to get to go to a new school.  The same one as KiKi is going to.  It was a very big deal at our house.  Miss Amy and Miss Jenny even came over to visit about it.  While they were there, I did some of my reading for them.  They were pretty excited, I think.

184/366 No haircuts after all

I like to hold Baby Patrick. He came today, so I got to cuddle a little. It’s been super hot lately, but in our downstairs, it still is chilly.  So I found gloves to keep my hands warm. We went to get haircuts tonight, but after we waited a  long time they still weren’t ready for us. So we went home.  But here’s how long our hair is now… me and KiKi

38/366 Looking snazzy for voting

Today I went to school, then we went to let Cami out (She’s our cousin-dog) and saw Daddy for a little while at lunch.  After that, we went to a place that does hair and stuff to faces so girls can be all prettied up. We didn’t go there to get haircuts, but me and KiKi wanted to get haircuts.  Mommy’s been saying we needed them for a while, so we asked and she said we could do it… KiKi was WAY excited, and she wanted to go first…. When she was getting her hair cut, she got all quiet and did so good being still.  Then it was my turn.  My hair was getting really really long and it got tangled sometimes.  I tried to sit still but since I have to tilt my head when I look at things, Mommy had to help hold me straight for the cutting part.  So there aren’t pictures of that… but then I got to have the blow dryer.  I do LOVE that! Mommy told the lady to take 3 inches off mine and 2 off of KiKi’s.  I think we turned out ...

BLTN: Time for a trim

I like for my hair to be pretty, and Daddy likes my hair to be long, but Mommy doesn’t like it to be in my face a lot.  So to make us all happy, Miss Stephanie takes care of it for me.  It had been getting longer than Mommy likes to keep from tangles, so we went to get a trim. And here’s how it looked at the end… I thought it was pretty, and Mommy and Daddy were pleased too.  Win win! Thanks, Miss Stephanie!

Catch-up: Haircut for KiKi

So after I had my haircut, that I showed you yesterday,  it was KiKi’s turn. I sat with Auntie Rachel while Mommy helped KiKi sit still. KiKi’s bow was out, and she was ready to go. She didn’t get much cut off, but she still did a pretty good job. KiKi was also showing off her painty toes.  Cute! When we were all done, we took a picture with Mommy.  Except that we didn’t look and smile like we’re supposed to.  So she just decided to be silly with us! It was pretty fun to get haircuts.  Maybe I’ll have more pictures of haircuts soon… Mommy says I’m way too long again!

Catch-up: Haircut for me!

Back in April, we went on a big girls day at the beauty shop.  That’s where you go to get your hair cut and fixed all pretty.  Me and KiKi went for the first time.  Mommy and Auntie Rachel have been there a few times before.  Miss Stephanie was really nice, and I didn’t get scared or anything. First I got to sit in the big chair. It had a cushy box in it so it made me taller. Then Miss Stephanie put a cover on me. It had fishes all over it. Then she combed my hair out all nice and smooth. She started cutting, and I tried to be really still.  When she was all done, she used the blow dryer on me.  I like this.  Mommy does this to her hair, and sometimes I go in there and get her to do me, too. I think it looks nice.  I just had to get used to it.  Mommy says that’s what all girls say after they get a haircut.  Thanks, Miss Stephanie! Come back tomorrow to see KiKi’s haircut!!...

My new hair

Here’s a couple more pictures of my new hair. This was before school today and I was ready to go, so I didn’t want to stop and look at Mommy for the pictures.

Something is different

More pictures tomorrow when it gets fixed better. Mommy is a little sad but I like it alot better because it doesn’t hurt to comb my hair now. And Mommy says it will grow by summer, so it’ll be long again soon, but better this time.

Twisty hair

Last week Mommy tried a new thing with my hair because it is always getting in my face and in my mouth. She has these little clippy things that she uses in her hair and she asked me if I wanted to try one. It looked a little silly since it was all sticking out, but it was easy to fix when I bumped it or when I rolled around and made it come out. The problem is that when Mommy tries a new outfit or hair thing she has to take TOO MANY pictures and I just get tired of it! (Mommy note: Seriously, though. It's adorable! I just kept staring at her because she looked so grown up!)
