31 for 21: Go run go some more

Today we went to school, Mommy went to do some cleaning she does, then she came to pick us up and we went back to that house for her to finish. Then we came back out to where we live and went to my old school so I could see Miss Jenny.  I go play with her every week so she can help me write my letters better. It was a lot of being in the car back and forth. I like to untie my shoes and sometimes I take them off. I’m not supposed to do that.  Shhhhhhh….. When we got home after seeing Miss Jenny, KiKi asked if we could take a walk, so we did.  Just a short one down the street.  We found a place where the puffy things are that you can blow.  So we picked some and practiced our blowing. Then it was dinner, and a quick swing in the back yard with Mommy, then bath and bed.  Whew… these days make me tired.  Glad I don’t have to stay up and do the dishes!

Mommy life: Just plain swamped

Thing are very very busy. I’m sorry we’re so behind around here.  I’ll put a couple little videos from cheer this past Sunday below so you can have a little something neat to see. They're preparing for their first competition on 10/6. I’ve got LOTS of great pics and Braska’s doing GREAT in gen ed kindergarten at the new private school.  I’d love to be able to document all of it like I used to, but life has other ideas.  I will make a point to catch up very soon I hope.  I’m trying to finish making about 30 cheer bows for the girls’ cheer squads right now, as a way to make a few bucks toward their costs. (Peek at what I got done yesterday.) Oh, and Milford, Indiana… I’d love to talk to you if you have questions about anything.  Thanks for visiting and catching up on so many old posts! Email me at braskasmom atgmail com if you wanna chat. Here's cheer videos... In the first, Braska's in the middle, in the dark pink tank top. And in this one, Braska's...

160/366 A comfy place

Sometimes its fun to just get comfy on the piano bench.

157/366 Quiet play

Some days we run around a lot. We go a lot of places.  That’s what happens most of the time.  But today we stayed home.  It was really nice.  We read books in the playroom, and Mommy was really happy that we chose to have some quiet play time. Uncle Ryan came over tonight for dinner and he played with us some before he went to a movie with Daddy.  He is WAY fun to play with. Then we we went to sleep, KiKi got in my bed with me.  Mommy sneaked a picture of us all cuddled up.

123/366 Sunny books

Library trips are fun. We usually read a lot of books, but we don’t usually bring them home.  Mommy always asks us if we want to, but we just like to leave them there to read the next time.  This time it was different. We each picked a book and took it home. Story time before bed is gonna be great!

109/366 Dear Daddy, mother’s day is coming

*ahem* Love, Braska and KiKI

102/366 Little girl in a big store

Sometimes a girl has to go to help her Daddy find the important things we need at our house. But sometimes all that work means that it’s time to take a break.

97/366 Running for papers

We had to go to the hospital today. Except we didn’t stay very long, only a few minutes.  Mommy just had to pick up some papers so she could finish her Turbo Tax.  It’s a game she plays on her computer.  While she was waiting, we checked out the fish.  They have lots of these there, and we like to see if Nemo and Dory are in there.  They were! We went to two more places for papers.  That’s a lot of going around for papers.  But I think we’re all done now.

94/366 Warm spring sprinkles

I like to stand outside when it rains just a little.  It’s kind of a like a shower outside.  And I really REALLY like showers.  I love to stand in the warm water for a long time.  Mommy says I’m going to be using a lot of hot water for many years to come.

77/366 Watching the big storms

We had loud storms at our house today, and lots of thunder and lightning.  Daddy likes to watch the storms, and so we climbed up on the couch to look out there too. It was a good spot to watch the rain.  And we didn’t even get wet!

51/366 Decorating the door

First, just a silly picture of me giggling and not letting Mommy take my picture when she was all excited because I drank 6 oz in about 3 minutes this morning.  I’m doing WAY good on my drinking! We did some decorating today with some things KiKi got for her birthday.  We were going to put them on the walls, but they were too bumpy, so we decided to put them on the door. There were flowers… And a neat picture that says “love” and some others things I don’t know yet.  KiKi told me what it said, though. Here’s the whole door.  The purse on the door keeps my iPod in it, and that bat is one KiKi made at Halloween.  They stay on the door because that’s where we want to keep them. We also put our names on KiKi’s name sign.  She got it for her birthday from Miss Julie, but KiKi wanted it to have both of us on there because she said we both sleep in that room.  It’s nice that she shares. Doesn’t it all go really...

31 for 21: Ready for this week?

October is Down Syndrome Awareness Month. So we’ll highlight a few little special things about what DS means in our house. [I have Down syndrome. I have lots of stuff that happens every week. Sometimes TOO much!] Tomorrow is a special day at our house… anyone know why? Plus the Bears and Cardinals won, so yay! Then Wednesday is when I have more fixing done on my eyes at the hospital.  And the rest of the week I’ll be resting. So tonight, I’m sleeping plenty.

Just because I’m goofy!

Sometimes Mommy wants to take pictures.  And I might start to be good and smile…. But then I always get kind of silly… Why? Like I have been saying a lot lately… I’m goofy! (Hey Sophie , I still love your team shirt!!!) (Mommy note: Braska’s favorite phrase lately is “Hey, you goof!”  And then following it up with, “No, YOU are!” if someone begins the exchange with her.  Teachers, therapists, and anyone who dares engage her is getting the “goof” treatment.  After a while, she’ll say, “Ha ha, Mommy, I’m so goofy!”  It is kind of adorable.)

Home and happy

We’re home. Back from Grammy’s.  And we had a really fun time there!  But it’s fun to come home and see Mommy and Daddy, too.  Before bed last night, we piled up on Mommy. Usually we wrestle and roll on the floor with Daddy most of the time, but he was busy, so KiKi asked Mommy to sit on the floor. Then we got her! I’ve been telling them all about what we did and stuff while we were at Grammy’s.  KiKi likes to steal my stories, though. She talks a lot faster than me, too.  But this morning I got up first, and I went in to wake up Mommy.  Then we stayed in bed for a while and talked about the fun things we did.  Until I told her, “Mommy? I want some bef-tist.”  That means I wanna get out of bed and go eat yogurt or oatmeal or something yummy.  So we did. Today we went down to Auntie Rachel’s house to let Cami out and play for a bit. Cami is their new puppy. She is already getting BIG from when we first saw her. She scares me a little...

Mommy report: Skill surprises

I’m a horrible blogger lately.  No excuses except life.  BUT-- There’s a couple things I just don’t want to forget that have happened lately relating to Braska’s development. We’re just beginning work on potty training.  I won’t go into great detail because that’s not really me in an area like this.  Suffice it to say that both girls are loving the process, and even though they’ve been totally fine to go for quite some time now, especially Braska, they’re picking up pretty quickly on the routine.  We’re not in “full training mode” or anything, but the preliminary work is going well. When I drop Braska off at school in the morning, she is to take her backpack to her cubby and then we go wash her hands and find her nametag.  The other morning she took her backpack (which is actually too big for her to wear…causes balance issues even though it’s a mini-backpack) and carried it right to her cubby.  Leaned over and patted her name on the bottom...

My new TV place

Mommy and Daddy moved everything around in the living room after we took the Christmas stuff down last week.  It looks like they made the room bigger and we have more room to play!  And I found a new place to see the TV good.  It’s not too far from the TV, and I can get real comfy. Mommy says if she did this it wouldn’t be comfy…

Catch-up: Being silly

I got so behind lately with pictures so I'm trying to catch up with some of my favorites to show you. I've been spending most of my time just playing and showing KiKi how to be silly. KiKi has a really fun and soft chair that she gets to sit in, and I wanted to see how nice it was. I just climbed up in it and surprised Mommy one day. After I had my oops on the stairs, we went to my favorite hospital so they could check me out the next day. They have a really neat place where they take pictures of bones and stuff . It had a SUPER BIG bat on the wall!! I've been wearing my new warm-weather clothes. We found some good prices, Mommy called them "cleer-rents" or something like that. She was pretty excited about the cute things. (Mommy note: These little capris are actually pants, size 6-9 months, but they fit best at the waist and her little tiny rear end. The shirt is 12 months. She's almost 30 months. Crazy! Clothing this little petite princess is always...
