I’m 7 now.

Today’s my birthday.  I’m 7.  But I’ve been telling people I’m 67 all day.  I think it’s silly. Mommy made me a sparkly bling shirt and I did my picture by the door like all the other birthdays. Mommy came to school and brought cupcakes and goodies for my friends.  Mr. H gave me a cool birthday hat when I went to his class.  When my friends sang to me in Mrs. F’s class, I put it on again. This is when they were singing to me.  It made me laugh.  And my picture is on the big board behind me too.  Mrs. F made that for me.  Saturday is my big party.  Lots of my friends are coming, so it’ll be so much fun!  I’ll show more pictures after that. But being 7 is kind of tiring, plus I had extra therapy tonight and I stayed up a little past bedtime to finish my Christmas show I was watching, so it’s time for sleep.  Mommy and me took a quick picture before bed… we’ve been together for 7 years!

31 for 21: Two-Party Friday

Kinlee reporting: Friday was 50s day at my school. Mommy made me a skirt really fast for me to wear. Braska’s school was on a vacation day so she came with Mommy to my party.  She has lots of friends at my school since she went there last year, so everyone is always glad to see her. This is all of the kids from the kindergarten classes at my school with all 3 teachers. We had a fun 50s day!  We even had a sock hop…it’s a dance! In the afternoon, Auntie Rach came to pick us up and took us on a secret mission. We went to get ready for a surprise party for Mommy’s birthday.  It was a super fun time! There was a lot of music and friends to see. It was a great day of parties! Mommy has more pictures of her party on her page too…

31 for 21 : Still my buddy

Braska reporting: Today I went to my old school, where Kinlee goes, and I got to visit my friends. I love going there!  On days when I don't have school at my school, I get to go have lunch and go to recess with my friends over there. My friend J is my favorite. He is always glad to see me.

31 for 21: School festival

Braska reporting : Last night my school had a fall festival.  I asked a lot if we could go. So finally it was time to go.  I looked for my friend Jacob. I didn’t see him, but I saw some other people, like one of my teachers, Mr. H.  We went to the book fair and Kinlee got a couple of books. We played a bowling game and got some candy. I gave mine to Daddy because I don’t like candy. And I saw Jack and Dashlyn . We rode the hayride together. Then it was time to go. I had a pretty good time!

Rehearsing hellos

Mommy reporting:  Braska loves to visit the private school that she attended last year, where Kinlee still attends.  We love that place, and someday she’ll be back there, I know it for sure.  Things are in the works…  Whenever she goes with me for any reason, like visiting for lunch and recess with her friends, or stopping by to pick up Kinlee, she always says she’s going to go tell everyone hello.  She has great plans of what she’ll say and so on.  But when she gets there lately, she kind of clams up.  When she was a student there, she was quite verbal with her teacher and friends, though somewhat picky about who would receive the blessing of her greetings outside of the classroom…. little diva.  But she seems to be re-discovering again when we pop in for little visits.  (She’s fine on the playground, of course, not a problem there.) So recently she’s started acting like she’s seeing everyone when we talk about going.  Like she’s ...

First day of school 2013

The day didn’t start out on a perky note for Braska. She did not feel well and just was so pathetic to see. The classic front porch pics were a bit uncomfortable for Kinlee.  But still, a photo must be had. Even if it’s an unhappy one. Braska went with Daddy to school, 13 minutes east of our house, and I took Kinlee 10 minutes west of the house to her school. And I kept thinking “the juggling has begun….” While dropping Kinlee off, I was still in her school, Braska’s school called (8:20 am) to tell me she was feeling worse, and asking if I thought I should get her.  We discussed, and they felt that wanted to allow her a bit more down time to adjust, and it turned out she did perk up and did well for the rest of the day.  Belly issues, apparently. When it was time for Braska to arrive home on the bus, Kinlee and I went out to the porch to wait for her. She got off that bus, happy as a clam, and marched independently up to the house with her monstro...

Field trip. On a bus!

My class is going on a field trip today. And we get to ride the big bus from the high school!!  I love riding a bus so much! This is me and two of my friends. Both their names begin with A. I say they are awesome!

For Mrs. E. My memory verse.

On Friday, I had Mrs. S in my class at school because Mrs. E had to go be with her family for the day.  I like Mrs. S. It was memory verse day, which is when we have to say our verse to our teacher so we can show we know it.  I like to memorize things, because I can usually remember really well.  But I didn’t show Mrs. S that I could do the verse, even though I know it.  Sometimes I just don’t feel like it, and sometimes my memory seems to get a little tired. So Mrs. E says she will give me another chance to tell her the verse, since she knows I like to tell her my verses best of all.  But Mommy thought that—just in case I get in a little grouchy mood tomorrow—she would get a little movie of me practicing so Mrs. E could see that I really did know it. So here you go…  I thought you might want to see it, too. I can’t believe school only has 3 weeks left! Kindergarten has been GREAT!

City cowgirl

Today was cowboy/cowgirl day at school.  I don’t really have anything like that.  So we decided a star on my shirt and my tan boots would have to do the job.  Kind of a city girl, I am.  Some kids had cowboy boots and hats and vests. I’ll have to do some shopping before next cowboy day! (Aunt Karol, I so needed your help today! ) Still cute, though, I say!

Mommy Simulpost: What? A post? Don’t pass out…

I know I’ve been MIA. I know that my readership is basically nil. But I know there are a few of you who may still happen by. So in this moment, as I sit at McD’s after a very healthy and balanced lunch, I’ll pause to post instead of logging in to work for a few minutes.  Don’t you feel special?  Wait. Maybe you want to wait til after you see what overly-awesome and super-interesting things I have to share first.  Then you can be the judge of it all. Why am I at McD’s? Good question. It’s not a place you find me often at all. But it’s close to both of the schools where my girls are this afternoon, and I didn’t have a long period to go do something involved, so lunch and some quick internet time was about what fit. Both schools? And in the afternoon? Don’t they go to the same school and isn’t it half-day for mornings?  Well, let me back up a bit.  We’ll see if I can get it explained in the few minutes I have left.  Oops… Happy Valentines Day.  ...

31 for 21: Birthday Field trip

Today we took a field trip. My first one in kindergarten! My friend helped me do lots of things. Like climb WAY to the top of this hay tower. Mrs. E was up there and we waved to Mommy from across the way. Since it’s Mommy’s birthday we stopped for a smiley picture together. All my school friends are so nice.  There are 7 other kids in my class.  They’re all way bigger and faster than me, but they always help me and invite me to go with them.  My friend E is one of my favorite buddies. We went around and did some fun things together. She even was my car buddy and her mommy and her rode with me and Mommy in our car. (Mommy note: I can NOT say enough things about the kids in B’s class. They are just amazing.  That has a lot to do with a superb teacher in a really great school.  But the kids themselves are just so sweet, so wonderful with B.  Patient but not too patronizing. They just love her and want her to be doing things w...

School Pictures 2012

I’m sad that my 366 has fallen by the wayside.  Seriously.  I wanted to do it so badly. I miss that I don’t document everything like I used to.  But we’ll try to hit the highlights… like school pictures!  They came home with the girls today. Braska. Kindergarten. Mrs. E’s class. (My guess is that the other shots weren’t all that flattering since the one they went with was kind of not straight on and the usual pleasant-stoic. Which is ok. Personality!) Kinlee. K4. Mrs. S’s class (This is the fake “cheese” or force a smile face. But that’s also ok. Seems like a classic first school pic. She’ll love it in 15 years.)  So far the school year is going great, in the school part.  The home part is struggling because apparently I don’t know what to do with 3 mornings a week “free” so I book them AND the rest of our days to excess and insanity. So the house is in worse shape than ever, meals are sporadic at best, and I feel too too too too too...

Big kindergarten stuff

I went to my new school today.  I went to my new kindergarten class.  I like my teacher a lot. And I like the new friends.  There’s 8 of us in my class.  They are all way bigger than me though.  And everything there seems big, I think. Like my backpack hook. It’s WAY up there.  I can’t quite reach it but there are lots of nice people who will help me when I’m reaching high as I can. We will show you more pictures and tell you more stuff about school soon. But there’s a lot to do when you’re a big kid like me in kindergarten. Even homework. So I have to come back later to finish more stories.

200/366 The last last day at my school.

Today was the last day at my school.  I’ve been at that school since before I can even remember.  More than 3 years, since I was just a little 2-year-old. If you weren’t around back then, here’s the story about my first day. (I was so little and cute!) (Mommy note: Here’s a bit from that other post, in case you’re one of those who can’t be bothered to click ALL the way over there. She's 25 months old. That's a 9 month shirt, 24 month "skinny" jeans with the adjustable waist cinched to the max, and size 3 shoes that are still PLENTY big. Oh, and underneath is a 9 month onesie. She could wear 9-12 month jeans since they fit around her waist but they're too short. These are a little long still, but better than short in the winter. Eventually she'll even out...maybe. The funny part to me about that is that today, at over 5 1/2 years old, today she wore a 3T shirt, 24 month capris, size 7 shoes.  She’s taller, and she weighs almost 10 lbs more than sh...

199/366 School stuff. New backpacks!

We’ve got lots to do before school starts.  So we went shopping.  We got pencils and crayons and markers and paints. But first, we looked at the fish. And then we got to pick out our own backpacks.  We have to get the big kind now, and we only have the little kid kind.  This is the one KiKi picked. I picked one with a frog on it… but I’ll wait to show it off til my first day of kindergarten!

173/366 Dress-up Hawaii party

A guy from school called Mommy the other day to ask if I could let him take some pictures to use for a big school party later this summer.  So this was the day I went to play dress-up for the pictures. First they gave me some fun things to put on.  But I thought we were going to see the beach. It was just a blue curtain… bummer. There was a neat shiny thing that they held by me.  I liked to watch my shadow in there… But once Mr. R started taking the pictures and telling me what things to do, it was lots of fun!  Mommy was surprised at how well I listened and tried to do the funny things he asked. Sometimes I just did my dancing.  I love to do dancing.  Mommy played some music on her phone and we all danced around. After all that dancing and smiling, I needed a drink when we got finished. ( Mommy note: Since we’re a little late with the post, we can also include the “finished product,” as in a couple of...
