31 for 21: Happy looking back

Mommy reporting: So…. today I’m 40. And I’m good with it. I’m actually excited about what feels like the beginning of the next big life stage, but there’s always a slight tinge of sadness for me when it comes to birthdays and anniversaries of different things.  I’ll not go on about that here, but I did want to show you some things that made me smile as I looked back. Miss B in some of her earlier cute glory.  (If you need more, go to the archives in the left margin and go back to 2007 and 2008… lots more where these came from…) From October 2007 From October 2008

Presents from work

Mommy came home with some goodies for us today.  She got them from her work.  She works at the Y.  These shirts have too many letters on them, but she says it means the same thing. We were just playing around after our naps, so we had crazy hair.  But I think we do a good job of looking cute for her work.  She said they didn’t have any smaller shirts, so we’ll have to grow into them later. When we’re like 10 or something! Anybody know why she got us these colors??

Happy Mommy’s Birthday Day!

I took a picture this morning of me and Mommy.  I’m still learning how to take pictures good, but it’s still cute I think.  Probably because it’s mostly me! We’re going to Grandma C’s for football today. So I gotta get ready to go! Go Bears!  You better win for Mommy’s Birthday Day! Hope you do something fun today!

Mommy life: Tagged: 7 songs, part 2

If you missed part 1, you can start here if you’d like. Warning: More “real” topics than the usual Braska reports. Notice: Abnormally long post. The complicating part of this particular assignment is that to do this honestly, it means that I must deal with some things that I’ve generally kept to myself or those who have crossed my path with unfortunate timing. Yet, I don’t want to betray others’ thoughts and feelings irreverently, so I’ll tread carefully. For those of you involved, grant me this bit of healing. It’s been a very hard year. That’s the understatement of my life…but it is still true. And since I try to live my life reliant on the grace and comfort of God and reflecting the love of Christ, a hard year has been a growing year and one full of reminders of where I stand in the whole scheme of things. I am a musician, a lover of music, and it is integral to my daily life. So as I am hurting and learning, music is deeply entwined in the process. An obvious theme or two will be p...

Mommy life: Tagged: 7 songs, part 1

A short while back, Christina over at Prince Vince Meets the World tagged me to “List seven songs you are into right now. No matter what they are. They must be songs you are presently enjoying.” I’ve seen this going around on blogs, and it’s interesting to see what people have, if I’ve heard of the songs/artists, and what that tells me about that person. I generally do not take the time to do this type of thing, but since I’m sitting in a hospital room with some time on my hands while Braska gets better, I thought this is as good a task as any. Plus two of them are because of her, so that’s a good place to start. So here’s the music, and I’ve included links to the lyrics, and these pages have the songs to listen to as well. I’ll start with Braska’s songs. You Ruined Everything by Jonathan Coulton This is a song that my husband connected me with during my pregnancy. I liked it immediately, and listened to it alot. It’s a happy song, even though the title might be a bit concerning at fi...
