37/366 Today’s numbers

These are the blocks that sit on our TV.  Every morning we change the numbers.  Usually KiKi does it, but sometimes I like to try. Today I made it 6. KiKi’s birthday is on 9.  It’s coming soon!!

33/366 Word Nirvana. Bubble wrap.

I love words. Like I LOVE words.  And letters. And numbers.  And the best thing every is FLASHCARDS with all those things on them… the BEST!!!  I would rather play with flashcards than any other toy. Ever. Today we had my sight words flashcards out, and KiKi put them all on the floor so she could make sentences like she likes to do.  But before she started, I came out and saw them all spread out on the floor. I started feeling a little something inside me… I mean do you SEE all those words?!? Then I just got all excited and kept saying, “ I love my flashcards!  I love it, I love it, I love it!” Mommy says I might be a little bit silly.  I might need help.  Tonight, while Mommy was at work, Daddy showed us something super cool.  Little bubbles all put together on a big sheet.  It’s to keep things from breaking when you carry them or send them places.  Me and KiKi thought it was pretty interesting.  S...

Reading to Kidlet

We have a new buddy who comes over sometimes. Kidlet comes to our house, and I think it's pretty fun. The other day, I asked if Kidlet wanted to hear me read a book. I couldn't really understand what Kidlet said, but I decided that EVERYONE needs to know their farm animals, so I was gonna read anyway. If you don't know your farm animals, you can come over and I'll read YOU a book, too!

Uh-wanna watch-a show

That’s what I tell Mommy every day.  “Uh-wanna watch-a show. Puhleeeeeze!” So this morning, for our morning show after breakfast, and after we were dressed in our hang-around-the-house clothes—warm shirts and BabyLegs --Mommy put our pink princess couch in the watching spot and turned on the TV.  I even have TV buttons of my own.  Me and KiKI both wanted to watch Word World . It’s our favorite show right now!  We have lots of them saved on the TV, so we can watch it anytime Mommy says it’s ok. “Let’s build a word! Oooooooh. M-ILK. MILK!  Hey, I know that word!” “Let’s back that up and watch it again!  M-ILK… MILK!  I love milk!” ”Ah yeah, that’s better. I just love Pig and Duck. They are the best.” If I try real hard, maybe I can talk Mommy into some Sight Words or Sesame Street next. But she probably will make use go play a while first. Can’t hurt to try, right? So that’s what we’re doing today. What are you doin...

Mommy report: More sight words please!

Twelve days ago, I pulled out the flashcards that go with the Meet the Sight Words videos that the girls got for Christmas a couple weeks before. The girls have become slightly obsessed with their sight words flashcards over the past couple of weeks. They ask to “do flashcards” about 10 times a day, and we actually get them out and go through at least some of them 3 or 4 times a day, more if we’re home all day. The result, combined with the clear slant towards loving to learn that these girls have, is that they’ve got them all down. There are more than 45 words in the flashcard set , and the 3 coordinating videos go over the same words. (These words are from the Dolch list , in case you wonder how they chose these particular words.) And no, this is not a paid endorsement for Preschool Prep Company . But I’d be happy to do one! Yesterday, the girls wanted to do them again after lunch, but Kinlee quickly melted to mush as she was very ready for nap. So I thought it would be a good ...

Mommy report: Sight word success!!

We’re fans of Preschool Prep Company , thanks to Shelley turning me on to it last year.  Braska knew her letters and numbers and several shapes before we started the PPC Meet the Letters , Numbers, etc, videos last year, but within a few weeks, both Kinlee (at about 18 months) and Braska firmed up their letters—upper and lower case—as well as numbers 1-10, colors, and shapes.  So for Christmas a strong hint was placed to a certain willing Grandma about the next step in our learning plan.  The Meet the Sight Words Set of DVDs .  And the girls LOVE it!  They’re just on the first one at this point, and they’ve only been watching them about 2 weeks, and not that regularly, to be quite honest.  Mostly in the car on longer-than-10-minute trips. Last night I found the flash cards that we also go at Christmas, and I decided to put them out in sight so I’d remember to work with them on them more frequently.  I thought this would be the beginning of them l...

Mommy report: Skill surprises

I’m a horrible blogger lately.  No excuses except life.  BUT-- There’s a couple things I just don’t want to forget that have happened lately relating to Braska’s development. We’re just beginning work on potty training.  I won’t go into great detail because that’s not really me in an area like this.  Suffice it to say that both girls are loving the process, and even though they’ve been totally fine to go for quite some time now, especially Braska, they’re picking up pretty quickly on the routine.  We’re not in “full training mode” or anything, but the preliminary work is going well. When I drop Braska off at school in the morning, she is to take her backpack to her cubby and then we go wash her hands and find her nametag.  The other morning she took her backpack (which is actually too big for her to wear…causes balance issues even though it’s a mini-backpack) and carried it right to her cubby.  Leaned over and patted her name on the bottom...

Miss Shelley’s got more chances to win!

Mommy put this on her page a few minutes ago… I hope we win, so I’m gonna tell you about it, too. Here’s what Mommy said: Preschool Prep is a company I just now am learning about, and so far, I’m a fan of everything I’m seeing.  Shelley’s giving away a great set, so go over and enter to win!  (Isn’t her blog especially cute???  wink, wink) If you’re someone who buys Braska gifts at any time, put this on your list of options for the next birthday or Christmas.  It is all stuff we could really use to work on things we’d like her to be learning currently.  The first one on the list would be Meet the Colors—DVD and Books .  I’m gonna have to see if there’s room in the budget soon for that one…  If money were no object… this would be my choice, ordering it today if I could!  Ultimate Preschool Prep & Sight Words Pack Truthfully, I just want all of them. How great would that be!?!  For working with both the girls.. we’d be all...
