Hot head sisters

We are home from school today. Our heads are really hot. And our bodies too. Dr A says no school tomorrow either,  so I'll miss my field trip. I don't like that!  KiKi is hotter than me,  but she still smiles for mommy...

A+ on my heart test

It’s been about 2 years since I had to see Dr. J, my heart doctor.  I was so strong and healthy that he didn’t have to see me for a while.  But today it was time to go see him again and take a little test.  First they checked to see how big I was.  30 lbs 7 oz and 38.5 inches is what they said I was.  Mommy thinks that’s big.  Everyone else seems to think it’s little since I’ll be 6 in a couple weeks.  I say it’s just right! Then I talked to one new doctor. He was nice but he wanted me to lay on my back so he could listen to me. And I do NOT like to lay on my back at all.  Mommy is stronger than me, though, so I couldn’t get up even though I wanted to.  It was over quick, though. After him, we went next door to see Mr. Jim, and he gave me a couple tests.  One was EKG and it had lots of cold sticky things on my skin. I didn’t like that.  And since I don’t like to lay on my back, Mommy sat down first and then I leaned back on ...

207/366 School doctor visits

Before we can go to school, we have to get a note from the doctor to tell our teachers that we’re healthy. First we had to wait a little. But we didn’t mind. Then they had to see how big we were.  We’re both 29 pounds and 38 inches. Then we checked out some of the stuff the doctor will use. We giggled when she looked in our ears.  It tickled. Later, while Mommy was busy at Auntie Rachel’s, KiKi read some books on the iPad. She’s pretty good at finding stuff on there.  I don’t really like to mess with it. We passed our doctor test, so now we’re all set for school!

179/366 Daddy’s work without Daddy

Daddy’s still in Oregon.  He sent us this picture today. See that mountain? It’s name is Hood.  It has SNOW on it!  Today we went to Daddy’s work for an appointment with Dr. A and for my xrays.  He checks my hips and legs and feet to make sure everything is right so I can keep walking right.  He said I look great!! After, we went around the corner to where Daddy’s desk is.  He wasn’t there.  It was weird to be there without Daddy.  But Miss Liz was there, and we like her a lot.  She works next to Daddy, and she’s Mommy’s healthy eating helper. KiKi decided to work on Daddy’s computer a little bit. Daddy sent us a picture later.  It’s him and Uncle Ethon when they were little boys.  Aren’t they cute!?!  They found it at Great Grandpa Rod’s house. We were ready for bed when it was time.  KiKi decided to put her blanket over her head for some reason.

143/366 Eye check up day

Mommy got me this doll for Christmas, and she’s been sitting in the play room mostly.  But today, I decided to give her a cuddle, and guess what??  She’s pretty fun to play with!  Now KiKi and I are playing with them a lot!  We got dressed and went to the eye doctor so he could check my eyes after my last surgery. We like to play a little while we wait for him. He said I’m pretty fixed up, so no more surgeries for a while.  Good news! We always like to look at the fountain by the doctor’s office.  Daddy surprised us by coming to the doctor’s office too.  He works really close to there.  He waited with KiKi for me and Mommy to talk to the doctor.

23/366 Little girl, big eyes

Wow. What a busy day we had!! First I went to school.  Mommy and KiKi went to the Y for exercise and Y-School but then they came back for my special snack time with Miss J and Miss S.  And Miss C was there today too. She checks on how big I am and if I’m eating healthy things to make me grow.  Today I wasn’t bigger. I was smaller again.  BUT—I was taller.  So I have to start eating things that will help me get bigger to go with my taller-ness.  (Mommy note: Stats today—26 lbs, 37.75 inches.) After school, we went home for a quick lunch and went to the eye doctor.  It was time for my check-up to see how my eyes were doing. This time I decided I wanted to sit in the big chair myself.  Mommy was really surprised, but I’m 5 now… I can do lots of things myself!  The first doctor looked at my eyes with some lights and showed me a little movie. Then the first doctor put drops in my eyes and then sent me back out to wait a little mo...

Still napping through it

It’s like magic… I can still tell you what’s happening when I am sleeping in the other room.  That’s part of that 47th chromosome, I say. The ear doctor said I don’t need tubes, so he just cleaned out my ears and left them alone.  The eye doctor said I was really good and let him do all his fixing.  And now the teeth doctor is messing with me.  I’m so glad I get to sleep while they work. Here’s a couple more pictures from earlier…  I was happy when I got here! Me and Daddy did my sight words flashcards for a while since we were waiting. I showed some of the doctors and nurses that I can read the words. I’ll be done soon.  I never feel good when I wake up, though.  Boo. Edited to add:  I’m done!  All went well… Mommy and Daddy should come see me soon I hope.

31 for 21: Keep me fever free!

KiKi hasn’t felt very good for the last couple days.  She was really hot last night and again today. (You can read what Mommy said about it here and here and here .) Dr. A wanted to see her, so we went after school.  She was not very excited about going.  She said it was supposed to be my turn at the doctor, not hers.  I do go see doctors more than KiKi, but today it was all her turn. She did pretty good, and she picked a smiley sticker at the end.  She still isn’t feeling very good, but I hope tomorrow she’s better.  We’re saying prayers that I don’t get her germs and fever.  You can pray for that, too, and we would say thanks!

Good ears!

A couple weeks ago, me and Mommy went to see my ear doctor.  We stopped on the way and left KiKi at Daddy’s work with him.  She had a good time and helped a lot, he said.  He gave her snacks for all her hard work. We went on to the doctor’s office, and waited for them to be ready.  First we went to see the ear test ladies.  Usually, they try to show me toys and want me to look at the dancing elephant in the light box when they play a sound.  I haven’t ever liked doing that.  I usually just look wherever I want.  I talked a lot to the lady and counted with her.  I would wait nicely until I heard the sound in my ear, then I would put the piece where it was supposed to go.  We did it over and over.  They said I listened and did what they wanted me to, so Mommy was glad. The trick??  This time Mommy took some things I like to look at, (FLASHCARDS!!) and she told the ladies that I like to count and do my letters and wo...

See my eyes?

I am at the doctor's office again today so he can see how my eyes are getting better after he fixed them last week.  I hope he likes how they look!

More eye doctors

I'm at the eye doctor again today. Its a different one though. I saw one guy already and he ckecked my eyes and put some drops in there. I didn't like that at all. Now I'm waiting for the next guy. But at least I can play a little.

Good eyes

I had a pretty good appointment today at Dr. C’s office. We had to wait a little bit, but it wasn’t too bad. I found some fun things to do in the meantime. I even met some new really cute baby friends. They’re “extra” special like me. It’s always fun to meet pretty babies when we go to the kid’s hospital. Then we went back and talked to Dr. C. Mommy will explain more about all that big-people talk on her page . All I know is that I get to go to another doctor on Monday. Mommy says he might be able to help my eyes work better. I sat all by myself in the big chair today. Dr. C and the other doctor who came to learn from her thought I did great. KiKi got to play with Uncle Patrick at his house while I was at the doctor. They had so much fun she got mad when we got there to pick her up! She is SO crazy sometimes. But I’m glad she had fun! After the doctor appointment, we picked up KiKi and we went to see Grandma C and PaPaw for lunch, and Daddy was there too since...

Hey up there

I am at the doctor today at the big hospital where all my doctors are. Its just for kids. No big people allowed. I'm talking to Dr. C about my eyes again. But it is hard to tell them I am here when I'm too short!

Time to go home

A little while ago, they said I could go home.  But I had to wait for things to get all done.  So I rested on the couch a little. Then I waited some more.  I’m tired, you know.   Very tired. Then my super great nurse, Miss Amy, came to get me all unhooked from my cords and stuff.  She took my cover off my arm and there was all this weird tube and tape on my arm.  Maybe THAT’S why my arm hasn’t felt very good! She started to take it off, and she did it slow and nice, but it still wasn’t much fun. Then I had to wait just a second for her to get the rest of it.  Almost done. Now she’s working on the hurty part.  I really really really don’t like that hurty part. I tried not to cry as long as I could, but it just hurt too much.  But I only cried a little bit. (This super sad face is ‘specially for Daddy and Grandma C.  You’re both a little tiny bit mean, you know it.)  When we came home, we ...
