Mommy life: A peek at the future

Maybe it’s because music is part of my core nature, maybe it’s because I have a daughter with Down syndrome, or maybe it’s because it’s just an inspiring story.  No matter why it caught my attention, I’m glad it did.  (Thanks Ria for posting!)

It’s really short…take a look.  I just LOVE seeing girls about this age who are just living life. Who knows where Braska will be and what she’ll want to do, but it’s fun to think about her in an opportunity like this.

I couldn’t quit focusing on her speech and articulation… so good.

Now if only we could commute to that class once a week…

  1. I just LOVED this when it popped up in my Yahoo alerts yesterday afternoon. This young woman is amazing and inspirational. I could watch this over and over again.

  3. Maybe you can find out who her parents are and ask what all they did. I caught her comment of being homeschooled. I think you are preparing Braska, with all your time and efforts, to be everythink God has planned for her :o) Just keep following His leading...

  4. I'm more than happy to share! :-)
She had my full attention too with her speech and articulation. I want to ask her or her mom if there was anything special they did speech & language-wise in her younger years.

Mommy report: Chatty girl

Braska's been just loving her words lately. She's still signing some, mostly when we're in public or around strangers, but she's adding more words all the time. Many of her words are just attempts at the actual word, but that's where we all start, right?!? We're not saying that she'll be giving speeches next month, but we are very proud that she's become such a mimic and that she is loving using so many sounds. We practice often, just running through her words, signs, and tricks. She especially loves to chime in with videos of herself, so I've been working on compiling all her favorites for her to work with. As I was editing this, she was sitting here saying the words over and over. So funny to hear her talking to herself on the screen and loving it. So here's a peek at some clips from our practice session tonight. Some words are more obvious than others. They are all great attempts, though, and we'll celebrate that! Make an on-line

Nebraska meets Indiana

Braska's reaction to meeting the very kind Rory Feek and his beautiful daughter Indy.  I missed the part where Braska said Indy was sooooooooooo cute!  :) Our dream would be a photo showing the two most beautiful "states" together, right?!?  :)
