KiKi’s Turn: Color table

Sometimes I let KiKi tell some stories on my page. She did some fun things today when I was at school.  Mommy will tell you about it.

After we dropped Braska off today, since I’m working this evening and not this morning as has been the recent schedule, Kinlee and I headed to Once Upon a Child to see if we could find a pair of jeans that would magically fit Braska around AND not be too short. Tall order for Miss Skinny Buns.

Anyway, while we were there, Kinlee saw a neat little art table and chair and said she “needed” to take it home.  I told her we already had a VERY similar table in the basement that we had been saving for when the girls were ready to use it.  Grammy brought it last year for them.  I told her that if she wanted to we would go get it from downstairs when we got home, and she could try it out.

So we headed home, and she went down to the storage area in the basement and helped me bring this back up.  Well, she climbed the stairs while I carried the table and chair.  But once back in the kitchen, she did actually help to carry it.  Complete with grunts and groans about how heavy it was and how strong she was “for a little girl.”

She decided where she wanted it in the newly cleaned and purged playroom, and I grabbed a coloring book and a few crayons to demonstrate how handy the drawer can be.  She isn’t a big coloring fan, but she’ll sit still long enough to scribble a little here and there.

Still…she is a big fan of the table. And she sat and colored for a few minutes, which is longer than I’ve seen her do in a very long time.

Here’s a little video clip of the art table experience today… admittedly mostly interesting to grandparents, aunties, uncles, and the like.  She wasn’t feeling very talkative, as is her norm when the camera is around.

If you watched the video above, you saw the random declaration at the end of the clip… hence the following pictures…  I handed her the banana, she walked out of the kitchen, and when I looked for her a minute later, here she was.

I think she likes it, Grammy.

Mommy report: Chatty girl

Braska's been just loving her words lately. She's still signing some, mostly when we're in public or around strangers, but she's adding more words all the time. Many of her words are just attempts at the actual word, but that's where we all start, right?!? We're not saying that she'll be giving speeches next month, but we are very proud that she's become such a mimic and that she is loving using so many sounds. We practice often, just running through her words, signs, and tricks. She especially loves to chime in with videos of herself, so I've been working on compiling all her favorites for her to work with. As I was editing this, she was sitting here saying the words over and over. So funny to hear her talking to herself on the screen and loving it. So here's a peek at some clips from our practice session tonight. Some words are more obvious than others. They are all great attempts, though, and we'll celebrate that! Make an on-line

Nebraska meets Indiana

Braska's reaction to meeting the very kind Rory Feek and his beautiful daughter Indy.  I missed the part where Braska said Indy was sooooooooooo cute!  :) Our dream would be a photo showing the two most beautiful "states" together, right?!?  :)
