59/366 Heart Day #5

Mommy report:
Five years ago today, after 9 hours of surgery, at 11 pounds, this was my little baby girl, at about 6pm on 2/28/2007.

Many of you have seen that before, either on this blog, or you’ve seen it yourself, with your little one on that post op bed in the PICU.

If you haven’t, it’s scary. I know.  It’s ok that it’s scary.  But that’s not the end…
Seven days later, as I held a little squishy girl (I kinda miss the squish. She’s all bones these days, little skinny minnie!) I knew that she was well. She still had healing to do, but she was fixed and would be better from here forward.

Here’s the REST of the story…
This is that same little girl, 5 years later, at 7 am on 2/28/2012.

Healthy as she can be.  Tough as nails, and sweet as mini marshmallows. (Unless she is sporting her newly donned attitude.  Diva-licious.)

Is open-heart surgery scary?  Of course!  Is it more frightening when it’s your firstborn and when that baby is barely 3 months old?  Absolutely!

But how thankful I am that we were able to have that surgery. That we were able to receive our girl back and better than ever afterward.  That she came home with us in 8 days, chompin’ at the bit to get on with life.

And she has not looked back.

So at 5 years old, 27 lbs, and one boat load of sass, she is one very precious part of our family.

Thank you again, Dr. F, for fixing out little girl’s broken heart.

How did we celebrate??  Why, playing a little ditty on the piano, duet style!

Keep singing, Braska Bear.  We’ll be cheering all the while!

Streamlining the blogs

I know it's been forever, and yes, Facebook is much to blame.  For as long as I held out and didn't join, now I see it's simplicity (and it's ability to suck up all my online time!!). BUT--After much pondering, I've decided I'm not giving up on blogging! Sometimes a narrative or story will be better served in a blog format, so I'm combining blogs into one.   Intentional Family is our new all-in-one blog for the goings on of our family, Braska's progress, celebrations, and challenges, as well as the amazing rise of little sister Kinlee. Other places you could check out if you so choose would be our new business Larae Photography LLC on Facebook or on the web at www.Larae-Photo.com , or the page for my hobbies-gone-busy Just RK Designs . So if there ARE any blog readers still out there, please come on over to the new place and join up for the ride.  All the old posts from the 3 previous blogs will be there soon so you can catch up if you need to!  ...

Happy 6 months to me!

I'm 6 months old today. Wow...it seems like a lifetime!! Mommy helped me put together a neat thing to share with you, but you should know that it's really for my dad. He's the best Pop a girl could have. Just remember, girls, he's mine and Mommy's, and we're keeping him! Hey Pop, thanks for hanging in there with us for six whole months! Go Team Woods! Make a video - it's fun, easy and free! www.onetruemedia.com
