Mommy report: Appointment tomorrow

I followed up both by phone and email when we got here and I hadn't yet heard from the GI office. I did finally get a call back and we're set to go in there tomorrow early afternoon.

I've changed treatment, and I'm not doing the silver nitrate anymore. It was hurting her, even though they told me that the growth shouldn't have feeling. She was screaming the last two times I applied it, and for those of you that know her, she doesn't cry. She has a hugely high pain tolerance, and can go days without crying at all. So for her to scream like that was sign enough for me that we weren't continuing that treatment. I was turned on to an alternative treatment, and while I was checking it out, I found another one that had rave reviews by parents on several G-tube sites. So I'm now using a nystatin/triamcinolone cream, which we happened to have in the house from a previous prescription for us. It has helped some (more than the silver nitrate ever did), it doesn't hurt her, the growth of the granuloma has seemed to stop, and I think it is starting to decrease a little. I'm still going to have her seen, because I'd prefer they remove this growth and cauterize it to be done with it. Plus, it's changed so fast, there's no telling what it might do between today and tomorrow.

Thanks for your prayers. The good part is that she doesn't seem bothered by this, now that the silver nitrate is out of the picture. I'm very pleased about that.

Braska will be up to posting more cute pics of herself soon, but in the meantime, take the time to check out this story.

  1. The 3 nurses I spoke with, including one NICU, said the silver nitrate is very painful. Glad the new treatment is helping. Love you both!

  7. AWW That Silver Nitrate stinks. So happy you have found something that seems to be working better without hurting Braska. WTG Mom! I hope the GI was ok with the change!! I have gone head to head with a few specialists over the years and I have to say I trust and follow my Mommy instincts and they point me in the right direction. Braska will be in my thoughts and prayers!

A good fashion statement

I’ve heard people talk about a fa-shun stayt-munt .  Mommy told me how to spell it right so you would know what I mean…fashion statement.  Have you heard about this?  I’m not sure, but I think it’s when you put on pretty clothes and then tell someone something.  And I have something to tell you!! Blue is cool!

I found a new fun show this week. There's lots of singing and dancing, and I like to do both those things! It's got a little dog in it named Blue. And he leaves clues for his friends to find. I like to scoot up close to the TV, so Mommy puts me on my little stool that I use for stand and sit practice. That way I stay in one place. Tonight's show was really fun and I got all excited! ( Mommy note: Remember, you can click on the pictures to make them bigger. The look on that little face is worth it! :o)
