Our new room

It’s been a while now since me and KiKi started sleeping in the same room.  But we like it, and we have been pretty good girls, so Mommy said we could have a new room.  It’s actually the same room, but we made it look a lot prettier.

This was what it looked like before.  The kids that had this room before me liked animals and blue, I guess.  We just didn’t change it because we like panda bears a lot and there were pandas in the pictures on the wall.  But now it’s time to say bye-bye to the pandas.

Grammy and Auntie Ju came up to help us with the room.  We didn’t quite finish the last (and best!) part so they came up again the next weekend, too.  It was not very much fun to take the pictures off the wall.  That’s what they all said.

We played in the chair in the middle of the room while they worked on things.  I went with Daddy to Grandma C’s for a while, too.  KiKi thought it was fun to stay and watch everyone working.

We got the walls done, mostly.  They’re a really pretty purple color called lavendar.  We practiced saying that some, but then we just called it purple.  The square on the wall is blue, and just wait til you see what it’s gonna be!

We moved everything around so that we have more open room to play by the closet and the door.  And the cozy chair where we do stories with Daddy and songs with Mommy every night is right by our beds.

Auntie Ju also helped us finish our bow holders that Mommy kept forgetting to make for us. (She bought the stuff a long time ago, but she never painted them and put them all together!)  We made them to match our new special part of the room.

We have a few bows. Just a few.  Mommy’s making a few more now for Easter and springtime.  (Mommy note: The pink “Nebraska” thing above the bow hangers is what some lovely volunteers made for Braska a couple days after she was born while she was in the NICU, for her little bassinet.  It’s a special keepsake.)

You wanna know what we did with that blue square on the wall??  Mommy had two curtains for the tops of the window, but we only have ONE window in our room!  So she decided we would make a pretend window on the other wall.  And since Auntie Ju does painting and special art stuff all the time, she made a really pretty picture for us to look like a window.

Can you see it over there??  Here’s a better picture.  You can make it bigger if you click on the picture, too.

Isn’t that so neat?  She made mushrooms and a snail and flowers and butterflies and even ladybugs for KiKi.  It’s really pretty!  Daddy put the very nice frame up around the picture and he put up the curtain for us to match the other window.

We LOVE our new room!! Thanks Grammy and Auntie Ju for helping so much!!

Mommy report: Chatty girl

Braska's been just loving her words lately. She's still signing some, mostly when we're in public or around strangers, but she's adding more words all the time. Many of her words are just attempts at the actual word, but that's where we all start, right?!? We're not saying that she'll be giving speeches next month, but we are very proud that she's become such a mimic and that she is loving using so many sounds. We practice often, just running through her words, signs, and tricks. She especially loves to chime in with videos of herself, so I've been working on compiling all her favorites for her to work with. As I was editing this, she was sitting here saying the words over and over. So funny to hear her talking to herself on the screen and loving it. So here's a peek at some clips from our practice session tonight. Some words are more obvious than others. They are all great attempts, though, and we'll celebrate that! Make an on-line

Nebraska meets Indiana

Braska's reaction to meeting the very kind Rory Feek and his beautiful daughter Indy.  I missed the part where Braska said Indy was sooooooooooo cute!  :) Our dream would be a photo showing the two most beautiful "states" together, right?!?  :)
