We'll miss you, Great-Papa F

Tomorrow we're going to say goodbye to Great-Papa F.

He's Mommy's daddy's daddy. He went to be with Jesus this week, and we are going to miss him alot. The good part is that now he's with Great-Granny F again, and I know he has missed her bunches and bunches.

I only got to meet Great-Papa F two times, once when I was a tiny baby, only about 6 weeks old...

...And then once when I was 9 months old at the end of last summer.

Great-Papa liked to go eat at the same place almost every day when he was able to get around better. Mommy and Daddy used to go down and have dinner at the Hitchin' Post with Great-Papa and Great-Granny, but they had already moved away from their old house when I was born, so I never got to go with them. I just know he liked his tea REALLY sweet!

Mommy note: I always thought Papa F was my most fun grandparent. Not that I spent all that much time with him really, and not that the rest of them weren't great, but he was good for a funny story, had such a dry wit--it even got more dry in the latter days--and he sure loved his ball caps and trucker's hats. Never without a hat, no way. And every time I'd go visit, when he was still living in my dad's growin'-up home, he'd show me a new hat, either for an insurance company or with a grandkid saying of some kind on it.

Welcome home, Papa. You made it. You can relax, think clearly, remember everything you want to, and most importantly, you can hug "Mom" again. We'll see you soon.

  6. Thank you, thank you, thank you! What a great tribute to Dad! And thanks SO MUCH for ALL coming down to the memorial and staying at Aunt Hyla's for some family time. Nebraska was the star of the show, of course! The pictures reminded me how much Dad enjoyed Braska! Remember, the day after the family reunion last summer, Hyla went to see Dad at the nursing home and he said, "Where's that baby?!!" He really had a great time holding Braska and that is one great memory!

Happy 6 months to me!

I'm 6 months old today. Wow...it seems like a lifetime!! Mommy helped me put together a neat thing to share with you, but you should know that it's really for my dad. He's the best Pop a girl could have. Just remember, girls, he's mine and Mommy's, and we're keeping him! Hey Pop, thanks for hanging in there with us for six whole months! Go Team Woods! Make a video - it's fun, easy and free! www.onetruemedia.com

Getting ready for Idol!

Here at our house we always watch American Idol from the beginning to the end. I like all the music, and Mommy and Daddy like to make guesses on who will win. I love to sing and listen to songs and Mommy has been singing songs to me since I was a tiny baby, so we do songs every day. We're getting ready for Idol to start soon, so we've been singing extra! Last night, I thought I would do my first movie of singing time. I was in a pretty silly mood and didn't want to be still, but Mommy thought I should let you see anyway. This is the song I know the best, Jesus Loves Me, but it's not my best showing of it, that's for sure. And this is my favorite song from my FAVORITE show... Blue's Clues!!! Usually I can say Blue's Clues really nice and show the hands like Steve does, but I didn't feel like it when Mommy got the camera out. But the Mail song is always fun! (Mommy even got a word wrong but I knew my part!)
