31 for 21: Mommy clarification

Real quick, because I’m tired and really want some sleep.
~Braska has gone 7 weeks now without using the tube. That’s big!
~Braska’s button is not out for good.  It’s been returned to it’s proper location in the belly.
~The button had been looking loose, and instead of actually checking the balloon and/or adding water to make it more snug, we just kept saying we needed to do it.
~When she woke up from her nap yesterday, she emerged from her room button-less.  We scrambled to find it and then decided to try to put it back in even though it had likely been over an hour since it had been out. (The openings can often start closing within minutes.)
~We do not have a back-up button currently.  Just figured we’d make it through the remainder of our time with this one.
~The button was located and after quite a bit more effort than we’re used to exerting, Daddy got it back in.
~I had resigned to the fact that the pressure was SERIOUSLY now on us to keep up this oral thing.  But then he managed to get it in. Whew.

I don’t intend to use the button, but she’s having surgery next week and then it’s winter with colds and such.  I’d prefer to hang onto that thing just in case for a little while longer.

So THANK YOU for all your kind words, and keep cheering for our girl!  But for now, we’re gonna keep little g-button right where he is. We hope.

Mommy report: Chatty girl

Braska's been just loving her words lately. She's still signing some, mostly when we're in public or around strangers, but she's adding more words all the time. Many of her words are just attempts at the actual word, but that's where we all start, right?!? We're not saying that she'll be giving speeches next month, but we are very proud that she's become such a mimic and that she is loving using so many sounds. We practice often, just running through her words, signs, and tricks. She especially loves to chime in with videos of herself, so I've been working on compiling all her favorites for her to work with. As I was editing this, she was sitting here saying the words over and over. So funny to hear her talking to herself on the screen and loving it. So here's a peek at some clips from our practice session tonight. Some words are more obvious than others. They are all great attempts, though, and we'll celebrate that! Make an on-line

Nebraska meets Indiana

Braska's reaction to meeting the very kind Rory Feek and his beautiful daughter Indy.  I missed the part where Braska said Indy was sooooooooooo cute!  :) Our dream would be a photo showing the two most beautiful "states" together, right?!?  :)
