31 for 21: School pictures

October is Down Syndrome Awareness Month. So we’ll highlight a few little special things about what DS means in our house.

[I have Down syndrome. I go to school and get pictures just like my friends.]

Here’s some of my school pictures from a few weeks ago.  I think I did ok.  Usually Mommy gets growly with me because I don’t like to look at the camera and smile.  And the people taking pictures always try to be silly or shake things at me, and I just look at them like they’re crazy. She was pretty surprised to see that some of the pictures were not too bad.  These are our favorite ones…

This is when I was telling them how many ways I was the best kid there!
1. I’m the cutest.
2. I’m the smallest—which in the weird rules of my family means I’m the cutest, thanks to my Great Grandma F.
3. I had the best outfit there, complete with super cool shoes.  That’s what I think.

(Mommy note: Here’s a couple other shots, not great, but not the worst ones.  I put them here just to show the tilt and tip, especially in the one on the left, that is the reason for her eye surgery this coming Wednesday, 10/19.  This isn’t the best example, but some of you have asked about it, so I thought I’d include these.  The one on the right also shows off BOTH her crooked pinkies, one of my favorite traits of DS.)

  1. The pictures are beautiful. I love the flower top you were wearing. I wonder if I can get one in my size? Little Miss D takes school pictures in a couple of weeks. Keeping my fingers crossed she will be nicer to their camera than she is to ours!

  6. She is so pretty! I like them all and I am impressed with the door background. We only get four or five solid color backgrounds.

A good fashion statement

I’ve heard people talk about a fa-shun stayt-munt .  Mommy told me how to spell it right so you would know what I mean…fashion statement.  Have you heard about this?  I’m not sure, but I think it’s when you put on pretty clothes and then tell someone something.  And I have something to tell you!! So here’s the pretty clothes… these were our Sunday pictures from yesterday.  Daddy took them while Mommy was getting ready for church. Me and KiKi were playing and we didn’t stand still to do good Sunday pictures.  But Daddy sneaked in some good ones. And now, here’s what I’ve got to tell you….. To celebrate my new pretty blog that we worked really hard on, me and Mommy are going to be giving some fun things away to somebody who likes to read our stories!  Do you like to get stuff for just reading my stories? And here’s how you can get stuff… You’re going to like it!  And there’s more than one thing!  1. Leave a comment on THIS POST TODAY (Monday) for an “early entry.”  (That mea

Mommy report: Exciting night!

Pardon the interruption into your regular evening, but we have something to share!! Daddy gets the credit for this one. He had her in the bed for cuddles and snuggles, and in a matter of 15 minutes, she's got it down pat!!! She's going around now saying, "Name! Braska! (Ba-ka)" I'm always hesitant to "brag" on her too much, for fear of offending or something to those who struggle... as that's a real thing in the world of delays...but I am so proud of this girl! More speech news soon, but I just had to throw this up and cheer for my girl!
