Playday 1

Today I got up and went to college! Are you surprised?! This morning was the first time for my new class, Stay N Play Playgroup. It's at the University of Illinois. That's a big college here where we live. You might have heard of it.

The teachers picked me to be in the group, and I think that's nice of them. The kids in there are kind of close to my age, but they are all a little bigger. (Mommy told her story about today here if you want to read more about the big-people details.) First, we sang The Hello Song, then we played a little bit. That's Braxton and Alina in the picture with me.

We went to a couple different places in the room to try different things. That's Kathryn in this picture. They had some things kind of like blocks, but I didn't like them. I don't like blocks either. I'm not sure why everyone wants me to like blocks.

Then we had snack time. We all went to the tables and they had crackers and drinks. Mommy gave me a few crackers that had neat colors, but I didn't want to eat them. And I don't like to drink out of a cup, so I just played with the crackers.

When we got to the car after playtime, I was pretty tired. So I napped on the way home. That was alot of stuff for a Saturday morning!

  1. Glad you had a good time at the college! It looks like you had a good nap, too. I would have liked the crackers much more than the blocks. Thanks for the story and the pictures!

  6. Looked like a fun time...Will you get to go next saturday. Blocks can be highly over-rated. It's more fun if someone else makes a tower and you get to knck it down and laugh. Not a nice thing to do to a playmate unless it's agreed upon, and they get a chance to knock down a tower too. Mommy's and daddy's build great towers and they don't mind demolition crews.
Colored fish crackers are fun, ritz peanut butter bits are better. Try one sometime.

Mommy report: Chatty girl

Braska's been just loving her words lately. She's still signing some, mostly when we're in public or around strangers, but she's adding more words all the time. Many of her words are just attempts at the actual word, but that's where we all start, right?!? We're not saying that she'll be giving speeches next month, but we are very proud that she's become such a mimic and that she is loving using so many sounds. We practice often, just running through her words, signs, and tricks. She especially loves to chime in with videos of herself, so I've been working on compiling all her favorites for her to work with. As I was editing this, she was sitting here saying the words over and over. So funny to hear her talking to herself on the screen and loving it. So here's a peek at some clips from our practice session tonight. Some words are more obvious than others. They are all great attempts, though, and we'll celebrate that! Make an on-line

Nebraska meets Indiana

Braska's reaction to meeting the very kind Rory Feek and his beautiful daughter Indy.  I missed the part where Braska said Indy was sooooooooooo cute!  :) Our dream would be a photo showing the two most beautiful "states" together, right?!?  :)
