End of day 2

What a day today... I'm exhausted, which is good because they want me to sleep an awful lot. This morning, even before Mommy and Pop got here to see me, the doctors took my breathing tube out. So I'm breathing without any help, and I'm doing a good job of it, if I do say so myself. The nice nurses are giving me oxygen to make sure I'm getting enough. I'm still having some irregular heartbeats, but they haven't hooked me up to the pacemaker today. They're going to let me try to work it out myself. I don't know what that means, though. I had a high temperature again today too, so they're giving me medicine for that too.

I got really mad this afternoon when they tried to mess with me a little, and my Mommy didn't care for that at all. She tried to calm me down, along with Grandpa John, but I would have nothing to do with it. I've got so much energy already that I can grab and kick and throw a really good fit. Apparently the nurses don't like that because they gave me some more of that sleep medicine to make me calm down.

They did take out my catheter and another tube today that was measuring some pressure in my heart. They told Mommy that was a good thing. And now I'm making wet diapers again. That'll show those nurses! So three tubes out today... I'm in a hurry to get better!

  1. Good job, kid. I know you are really proud of yourself getting all this stuff taken out of you but how the heck are you going to get bionic if you keep removing all the pieces that make you so? I know, I know...some people want a boy and some want a girl, I want a cyborg.

Mommy report: Chatty girl

Braska's been just loving her words lately. She's still signing some, mostly when we're in public or around strangers, but she's adding more words all the time. Many of her words are just attempts at the actual word, but that's where we all start, right?!? We're not saying that she'll be giving speeches next month, but we are very proud that she's become such a mimic and that she is loving using so many sounds. We practice often, just running through her words, signs, and tricks. She especially loves to chime in with videos of herself, so I've been working on compiling all her favorites for her to work with. As I was editing this, she was sitting here saying the words over and over. So funny to hear her talking to herself on the screen and loving it. So here's a peek at some clips from our practice session tonight. Some words are more obvious than others. They are all great attempts, though, and we'll celebrate that! Make an on-line

Nebraska meets Indiana

Braska's reaction to meeting the very kind Rory Feek and his beautiful daughter Indy.  I missed the part where Braska said Indy was sooooooooooo cute!  :) Our dream would be a photo showing the two most beautiful "states" together, right?!?  :)
