Food is a hassle

I don't really like to eat. I think it's just too much work and not any fun. Mommy says that I need to learn to eat alot so I can grow. But I don't know why I need to grow, so she needs to find another point to lean on. I am fine just as I am. Sure, I get rumbly in my tummy and then it's good to have something, but it doesn't take too much to make the rumbly stop, then I'm done.

For the first part of what I can remember, I had a tube in my nose and I got my food that way. It was nice and simple. I could even sleep while I was "eating." Then Mommy and everyone got all excited when I decided to try out eating the way alot of kids do. And I'm still doing that, but the grown-ups think I'm not getting big fast enough. They say that I'm not eating enough. They want me to take this bottle thing. Who would do that?? Mommy tries to stick this weird squishy thing in my mouth, but I push it out with my tongue every time and make a face that I think is quite clear. I don't want that thing. Nope. Not a bit.

Today she tried that darn bottle thing again, and I told her how mad it made me. I wish she would get the message that I'm not gonna drink out of that thing. Grown-ups aren't very smart sometimes. She told me that she might have to put that tube back in my nose if I don't start to eat better, but I don't think she'll do it.

I didn't take any pictures today because Mommy was busy working and I was pretty grumpy. We did take a cozy nap in the big, comfy recliner, so that was very nice. Maybe we'll do more fun stuff tomorrow.

  1. Hi Randa, I'm not an expert on this but, when it comes to bottles & pacifiers, it's babies choice.
Try different style nipples (nuk, evenflo, playtex nurser.)I have also heard it said that Braska probably won't take a bottle from mommy cuz she knows and enjoys breast feeding time with you. Have Muncher feed give her the bottle or someone you feel comforatable with. It's worth a try.
All of you look so wonderful!
    Lots of Love,

  2. All good tips...I'm getting that same advice from all over, so I think you're right. We've tried probably 8 different nipples over the span of her little life, and at various times different ones have worked. I thought I had a winner with some new tips this past weekend, but she'll have none of it...even when M tries to feed her. She's taking her cereal pretty well, so that's a plus. Thanks for the encouragement!

  3. From one Mom to another... I have learned throughout the years, especially with my own son, you just have to have alot of patience & think of it as a game with her. Braska will get the hang of the bottle and the food (Spoon) since you are the one in control :) I think their facial features are the best when trying new foods... Take care and keep up the great job with Braska..... She is a Beautiful little girl...
    Love from Florida!

  4. Braska, I want to have a word with you about this eating thing. It's time for you to learn to get with the program! It's way too important for you to put a few extra pounds and develop your muscles. Here's why. I'm planning on the 2 of us to do a lot of fishing in a couple of years, and you're going to have to be strong enough to reel in those fish. And let me tell you, some of them can put up quite a tussle and you'll need all the muscle you can muster! And even though your 'my little darling', you're going to have and reel them in on your own. I'll bait the hook, but you'll have to catch and reel them in! So, get with that eating program and get those muscles ready because the fish are waiting! Love you sweetie.

Mommy report: Chatty girl

Braska's been just loving her words lately. She's still signing some, mostly when we're in public or around strangers, but she's adding more words all the time. Many of her words are just attempts at the actual word, but that's where we all start, right?!? We're not saying that she'll be giving speeches next month, but we are very proud that she's become such a mimic and that she is loving using so many sounds. We practice often, just running through her words, signs, and tricks. She especially loves to chime in with videos of herself, so I've been working on compiling all her favorites for her to work with. As I was editing this, she was sitting here saying the words over and over. So funny to hear her talking to herself on the screen and loving it. So here's a peek at some clips from our practice session tonight. Some words are more obvious than others. They are all great attempts, though, and we'll celebrate that! Make an on-line

Nebraska meets Indiana

Braska's reaction to meeting the very kind Rory Feek and his beautiful daughter Indy.  I missed the part where Braska said Indy was sooooooooooo cute!  :) Our dream would be a photo showing the two most beautiful "states" together, right?!?  :)
