End of day 1

This has been day 1. They don't count the day of the surgery in counting days of the stay. Today was fairly fuzzy for me as they keep giving me this stuff that makes me kind of sleepy. This morning Mommy and Pop came to visit me, and I was a little awake for them. I tried to do my excited wiggles that they like, but I have alot of things stuck to me, so it was kind of hard. I did look at my Pop though when he was talking to me.

There's a tube in my mouth that is helping me breathe. They talked about trying to take it out today and let me breathe by myself. The doctor told Mom and Pop before the surgery that it would be day 3 or 4 before that would happen, so this was kind of exciting. They decreased the help that that machine was giving me with breathing, and I kept breathing just fine. Maybe I got too excited or something, because they said I had arrhythmia, which is when my heart has an irregular beating pattern for a while. So they had to turn on a pacemaker to help me. The nice nurses also put cold cloths on me to cool me down since my temperature got a little bit high. I didn't like this very much, so they showed me who's boss by giving me more of the stuff that makes me sleep hard. I guess they don't want me pulling out any of these tubes like I used to do with my NG tube. So now I'm dreaming again... maybe they'll take the breathing tube out tomorrow.

Mommy report: Chatty girl

Braska's been just loving her words lately. She's still signing some, mostly when we're in public or around strangers, but she's adding more words all the time. Many of her words are just attempts at the actual word, but that's where we all start, right?!? We're not saying that she'll be giving speeches next month, but we are very proud that she's become such a mimic and that she is loving using so many sounds. We practice often, just running through her words, signs, and tricks. She especially loves to chime in with videos of herself, so I've been working on compiling all her favorites for her to work with. As I was editing this, she was sitting here saying the words over and over. So funny to hear her talking to herself on the screen and loving it. So here's a peek at some clips from our practice session tonight. Some words are more obvious than others. They are all great attempts, though, and we'll celebrate that! Make an on-line

Nebraska meets Indiana

Braska's reaction to meeting the very kind Rory Feek and his beautiful daughter Indy.  I missed the part where Braska said Indy was sooooooooooo cute!  :) Our dream would be a photo showing the two most beautiful "states" together, right?!?  :)
